Healthy Whole Wheat Loaf
A delicious and nutritious whole wheat loaf, perfect for sandwiches or toast. Made with simple ingredients and packed with fiber.

Ingredients
Dough
- 3 cup whole wheat flour
- 1.5 cup warm water (105-115°F)
- 2 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, dissolve honey and yeast in warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add salt and gradually add the whole wheat flour, mixing until a dough forms. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf. Place in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until almost doubled.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 200°F (93°C).
- Remove from pan and let cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For a softer crust, brush the top of the loaf with melted butter before baking.
