Vegan Chocolate Flourless Cake
A rich and decadent vegan chocolate flourless cake that's surprisingly easy to make and perfect for any occasion.

- 1 8-inch Round Cake Pan Springform pan recommended
- 1 Mixing Bowls
- 1 Whisk
- 1 Rubber spatula
- 1 Parchment Paper
Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup almond flour finely ground
- 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Dutch-processed recommended
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 0.75 cup granulated sugar
- 0.5 cup vegetable oil Canola or sunflower oil
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line the bottom of an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together almond flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.1 cup almond flour, 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 0.25 teaspoon salt
- In a separate bowl, combine applesauce, sugar, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix well.1 cup unsweetened applesauce, 0.75 cup granulated sugar, 0.5 cup vegetable oil
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Gradually add the hot water and mix until the batter is smooth.2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder. You can also add chocolate chips to the batter.
