Equipment

  • 1 Large skillet
  • 1 Baking Sheet Optional, for baking tofu

Ingredients

Tofu

  • 14 oz extra-firm tofu pressed to remove excess water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Sauce

  • 0.25 cup honey or maple syrup for vegan option
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce low sodium
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated freshly grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  • Press the tofu to remove excess water. Cut into 1-inch cubes and toss with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu and cook until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Alternatively, bake the tofu on a baking sheet at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic.
  • Pour the sauce over the cooked tofu and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened and coats the tofu. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a vegan option, use maple syrup instead of honey. Serve with brown rice or quinoa for a complete meal.
