Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats Gluten-free if needed
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 0.25 cup maple syrup
  • 0.25 cup almond butter Or any nut butter

Chocolate Layer

  • 0.5 cup dark chocolate chips 70% cacao or higher
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Crunchy Add-ins (optional)

  • 0.25 cup chopped nuts
  • 2 tablespoons shredded coconut

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, applesauce, maple syrup, and almond butter. Mix well.

  • If using, fold in chopped nuts and shredded coconut.
    0.5 cup dark chocolate chips
  • Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.
  • While the base is baking, melt dark chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.

  • Pour melted chocolate over the baked base, spreading evenly.
  • Let cool completely, then cut into bars.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
