Healthy Apple Cinnamon Cake
A moist and delicious apple cinnamon cake made with whole wheat flour and naturally sweetened with honey and applesauce.

Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1.5 cup whole wheat flour Can substitute with all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 0.5 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 0.25 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 0.5 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 0.25 cup honey Or maple syrup
- 0.25 cup olive oil Or melted coconut oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Add-ins
- 2 cup chopped apple Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
- 0.5 cup chopped walnuts Optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.1.5 cup whole wheat flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 0.5 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 0.25 tsp salt
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the applesauce, honey, olive oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.0.5 cup unsweetened applesauce, 0.25 cup honey, 0.25 cup olive oil, 2 large eggs
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chopped apple and walnuts (if using).1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
