Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1.5 cup whole wheat flour
- 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 0.5 cup maple syrup
- 0.25 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 2 tablespoon almond milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional
- 0.5 cup dark chocolate chips optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.

- In a separate bowl, mash the bananas well. Add the maple syrup, applesauce, almond milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.3 ripe bananas, mashed, 0.5 cup maple syrup, 0.25 cup unsweetened applesauce, 2 tablespoon almond milk
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- If using, fold in the dark chocolate chips.1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the slice cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Enjoy!
Notes
For a richer flavor, use overripe bananas. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
