Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup whole wheat flour
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 0.5 cup maple syrup
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tablespoon almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional

  • 0.5 cup dark chocolate chips optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • In a separate bowl, mash the bananas well. Add the maple syrup, applesauce, almond milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • If using, fold in the dark chocolate chips.

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  • Let the slice cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Enjoy!

Notes

For a richer flavor, use overripe bananas. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
