Healthy Banana Bread with Walnuts
A moist and delicious banana bread made with whole wheat flour, less sugar, and healthy fats. Perfect for a guilt-free treat!

Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1.5 cup whole wheat flour Can substitute with all-purpose flour if needed
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
- 0.25 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed The riper the better!
- 0.33 cup maple syrup Can substitute with honey
- 0.25 cup coconut oil, melted Can substitute with olive oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional
- 0.5 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.1.5 cup whole wheat flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon, 0.25 tsp salt
- In a separate bowl, mash the bananas. Add the maple syrup, melted coconut oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.3 ripe bananas, mashed, 0.33 cup maple syrup, 0.25 cup coconut oil, melted, 1 large egg
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chopped walnuts.1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and enjoy!
Notes
For a richer flavor, use brown butter instead of coconut oil. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
